The Community Weatherization Coalition (CWC) is a grassroots community coalition founded in 2007 by a group of concerned citizens, religious leaders, and NGO’s under the auspices of Rebuilding Together. Our mission is to improve home weatherization and energy efficiency for low-income households through education, volunteer work projects, and community-building.

CWC volunteer energy coaches are trained to perform free, comprehensive surveys or “tune-ups” on homes throughout Alachua County.  Hands-on changes during our visit include installing energy-efficient light-bulbs, pipe insulation, and water-saving devices.  Our volunteers review resident utility bills and provide individualized, helpful tips for them to save even further.   Our work translates to reduced utility bills, and the conservation of our planet’s natural resources.  Energy coach training sessions are three-part, 12 hour workshops that occur twice a year, Fall and Spring.  To find out details about the next energy coach training or offer your time in other ways, please email:

The CWCPrateek.C.01 partners with area housing rehabilitation agencies Rebuilding Together, Central Florida Community Action Agency, Alachua Habitat for Humanity, as well as other entities with funding for weatherization, such as our municipal utility (GRU’s LEEP program). As a result of these partnerships, the CWC has been able to assist dozens of our clients in receiving critical home repair and more extensive retrofits such as upgraded HVAC systems, new water heaters, building envelope enhancement, and other improvements.

To receive a free home energy tune-up, you may call us to mail you an application (352) 450-4965, or simply download a CWC.TuneUp.Application here.  We help homeowners AND renters, and we look forward to helping you save energy, water and $!
