Rebuilding Together North Central Florida was able to partner with Shell and local community agencies Gainesville Regional Utilities and Central Florida Community Action Agency to help a very special family this year! After various meetings and work took place starting in November, all partners gathered on February 16th to celebrate their success in completely weatherizing the home of a family who had been battling extremely high utility bills.

Through the various agencies, the home was able to receive a complete roof repair with light-colored shingles for energy efficiency, attic insulation, sealing of ductwork and upgrades to the hot water heater, air conditioner and refrigerator. All single-pane windows were replaced with double-pane and sun screens were installed. A sliding glass door was also replaced. The family is now much better off not only physically, but financially given the amount of energy savings they’ll soon experience.

Fall Rebuilding Day 2011

Rebuilding Together North Central Florida has been busy this fall! Over the past month or so, over 150 volunteers came out to work on seven projects across Alachua County. Those volunteers provided critical repairs to roofs, floors, decks, kitchens and siding in addition to weatherization improvements so homeowners can save energy. The homeowners and volunteers alike have a satisfied glow about them know that we’re just a little closer to our vision of a safe and healthy home for every person. RTNCF wants to thank you and all of our supporters, volunteers, donors and sponsors who helped make this years Fall Rebuilding Day possible. There’s no way to appropriately say thanks for all the dedication and commitment that go into an event like this, but we hope you know that you’re appreciated. We couldn’t have done it without you!

National Rebuilding Day – April 2011

National Rebuilding Day for Rebuilding Together NCF was a huge success! Hundreds of volunteers worked tirelessly to complete home rehab projects for citizens across the county. A number of corporate sponsors, individual donors, and friends of RTNCF donated time, materials, and food to fulfill our mission “to bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of homeowners in need,” yet again! As an organization we are humbled by the generosity of spirit and the commitment of this community, particularly during a time when there are more needs than resources.

The staff, board of directors, and volunteers work all year on projects to support families and the preparation culminates in two major “rebuilding days” a year, with the national event occurring every April. We hope you will check out the photos from the different home sites and consider sharing your time, talent, and treasure to ensure “a safe and healthy home for every person.”
